In this week’s Monday Night Nitrate, we feature a stunning photograph by C. P. Rumford of the Midway Plaisance at the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition. Chicago’s first world’s fair celebrated the city’s recovery from and growth after the Great Fire of 1871 and attracted more than 27 million visitors between May 1 and October 30, 1893.
